The Whitworth Trust is currently recruiting for a new Chair and Secretary to join our volunteer committee. Could this be you, or someone you know?
As a small charity run entirely by volunteers, the committee plays a vital role in guiding the Trust's work, managing finances, organising events, and ensuring that our support for Whitworth House residents is as effective as possible.
The role of Chair involves leading committee meetings, representing the Trust publicly, and working closely with Orwell Housing to ensure residents' needs are being met. It's a rewarding role for someone with leadership experience and a passion for supporting vulnerable young women.
The Secretary supports the smooth running of the committee by taking minutes, managing correspondence, and helping to coordinate the Trust's activities throughout the year.
Both roles are voluntary and require a commitment of a few hours per month, with occasional additional time around events such as the AGM. Previous experience in charities, local government, academic research, or the housing sector is particularly welcome — but enthusiasm and commitment are what matter most.
We are a friendly, dedicated group and would love to welcome new members who share our passion for making a difference in the lives of young women in Cambridge.
For more information about either role, or to express an interest, please e-mail us at whitworthtrust@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
