Give a warm welcome

Most young women arrive at Whitworth House with very little — often without even the most basic essentials. Many have left difficult or dangerous situations at short notice and arrive with nothing more than the clothes they're wearing.

With your help, we can give each new resident a warm welcome with a carefully prepared pack of linen, towels, a duvet and pillows so they can set up their new room at Whitworth and begin to feel at home. It's a small gesture that makes an enormous difference in those crucial first hours and days.

We do the hard work of sourcing and purchasing quality, affordable items that will last. But we need approximately £75 per welcome pack. Unfortunately, we can't accept donations of items themselves due to storage and hygiene considerations — but financial contributions go a very long way.

Could you fundraise with your group to make a real difference to vulnerable young women in Cambridge? There are so many creative ways to raise the funds: why not get together and hold a pyjama party, a bake sale, a sponsored walk, or a quiz night? Schools, churches, workplaces, and community groups have all found wonderful ways to contribute in the past.

Every pack we provide sends a powerful message to a young woman arriving at Whitworth: you matter, you are welcome here, and people care about you.
