We shall be holding a fundraising recital at Pembroke College, on the evening of 29 April 2017.
The pianist David Earl will perform works by Schubert and Chopin, as well as a new work of his own. This is the third fundraising concert that David will perform for the Friends of Whitworth House: previous recitals have taken place at Pembroke and at West Road. David has a blog at http://www.davidearl-pianist.net

We are delighted that the Mayor of Cambridge has accepted to attend our Coffee Morning on the 9th November, at Magdalene College.
We are looking forward very much to the Coffee Morning as a chance to bring people together, and to raise money for Whitworth House and for the cause of women's homelessness in Cambridge. It will also be an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the difficulties facing young people trying to find permanent accommodation in the Cambridge area (including those women aiming to move on from Whitworth House itself). Some good news from our treasurer, Tim Wheatley:
“In the early days of Whitworth House the Friends were successful in obtaining grants to provide IT access for the residents of Whitworth House to help them generally, for study, and in looking for work. The Friends continue to fund internet access for the House on a regular basis. With help from Orwell the Friends have now agreed to fund the upgrading of facilities so that there will be WiFi access in every room. This will be at no cost to residents.” |
